Psalms 91:7 NKJV
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
Psalms 91:7 NKJV
The psalmist is speaking of the safety that they have by living in God. It is like a shield, a bomb shelter that no harm can come near.
The structures are made to withstand the violent force from the outside. But the divine shelter is beyond measure and far superior than the natural shelter.
The natural shelter is in a location that we need to rush to in order to be safe but the divine shelter we have in Christ is a shield that cannot be seen but covers us at all times.
The purpose is not to hide in this shelter but to be bold to go out to do His work knowing that we are protected by God at all times.
Our shield is having faith in God and remain believing in Him. If we doubt and let fear come in of what might happen to us is like coming out of our shelter to be hit by the enemy.
The righteous shall be bold as a lion because we are walking in the shelter that no weapon can penetrate through that shield of faith.
When we know we are fully protected and no matter how strong a new weapon is being developed, it cannot penetrate the shield we have in God, it frees us to focus on getting things done in the kingdom of God.
When things falls at our side, when things happen around us, we must not be afraid nor be dismayed for we live in God who formed the entire universe.
We must not step out of our place in God, remain in Him and start doing what He has called us to do.
If the psalmist can trust God in the old covenant, how much more we who live in the new covenant and have God Himself dwelling is us by His Holy Spirit.
Let us rise in confidence, in assurance, in hope and in faith. For we are fully protected to keep moving forward to expand His kingdom.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
