II Peter 1:12 NKJV

For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth.

II Peter 1:12 NKJV

Peter constantly reminded people not to depart from the truth they received. There were so many so-called truths before Jesus revealed the real truth.

The real truth is Christ Himself. He was from the beginning, before the world was.

Christ is the Word made flesh and dwelt among us. He is the light in every mankind shining forth His glory and power.

Peter calls it negligence if he did not remind people about remaining in the truth. As leaders, we are negligent at our work if we don't keep reminding people to remain, cultivate and walk in the finished work of the cross.

The word "present truth" refers to the established apostolic teaching and the gospel message that the believers had already possessed and needed to remain firm in.

The moment we don't realise we already got it, or the moment we take on something that is contrary to what Christ HAS established, we have already been defeated by the tricks of the enemy.

Truth sets people free, truth does not condone weakness, truth does not comfort our moment of despair but truth delivers us from natural circumstances to a supernatural state of God's image and likeness.

Truth presents us perfect in Christ Jesus, and truth displays Christ's finished work for everyone who believes in Him.

Many still use the word of God as a blanket to cover their weakness; God's word is not to cover our weakness. God's word gives us knowledge and power to keep living as an overcomer, conquering our weaknesses and living victorious over all of them.

We need to keep reminding everyone to remain in the finished work of Christ because flesh always tries to dominate our lives and tries to cancel the power of God within us.

When truth is taken out, then lives will be without the power to be free. So the enemy, the devil, has worked very hard to bring our emotions above the truth of God's word.

But we must rise in the truth of God and live in what Christ has established for us by teaching and reminding everyone not to depart from the position Christ has placed us.

Let us keep each other in check, encouraging everyone to remain in what Christ has done for us.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
