John 14:8 NKJV

Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

John 14:8 NKJV

Jesus was explaining that if they have seen and know Jesus, they have seen the Father and known the Father. This explanation by Jesus is very straightforward and yet Phillip could not understand what Jesus just said.

Perhaps Philip's preconceived idea of God the Father has blinded him to understanding what Jesus has just revealed.

What Christ revealed is so powerful. Making known that the Father has been in their midst all this time through Christ Jesus.

This gospel that Jesus brought and established is too good to be true, yet it is the only eternal truth.

Jesus reveals to us through His life everything about the Father, His heart towards us, His provision and His purpose for us.

Jesus saw the Father do and He did it.

He was reflecting the heart of the Father that we may know that our Father in heaven loves us.

Our preconceived ideas can rob us or block us from the revelation that the Holy Spirit is revealing to us through God's word.

We must get to know God beyond just the surface level. We need to intentionally know Him through the power of His Holy Spirit, through His word and by seeking His Kingdom first.

For we are to walk in the spirit and not according to our own understanding. We cannot see God through our weakness, we cannot conclude what the word of God means by our lack, fear or unbelieve but by who He has made us to be.

Let us embrace our Heavenly Father and know that He is a good good Father, be so secure in His love and in His finished work which He brought to us through Christ our Lord.

Blessings,

Ps Ambrose
