But you have not so learned Christ,
Ephesians 4:20 NKJV
Paul taught the Ephesians believers who were struggling in their faith to reflect Christ because they were surrounded by pagan practices in which they were once involved.
The Ephesian believers have received Christ but have brought in their old tradition, and Jesus becomes a new tradition they follow as a religion.
They were captivated by every wind of doctrine and tried to adapt it into their belief system. This leads them to live a religious life which leaves them powerless to overcome their old sinful habits.
They have a form of godliness but have no power to overcome their problems and habits.
Paul said, "You have not learned Christ." This does not mean just learning the ways of Christ, but imitating Him and actively putting them into practice by faith.
This is not a ritual but a lifestyle of living out Christ in every aspect of their lives.
The world has shaped people to its system to have their goals and achievements. All this is to take away our main priorities to live in the destiny God had prepared for us.
We will get into God's system when we start to put into practice the life of Jesus. Meditate and speak as Jesus would; when situations and circumstances arise, solve them as Christ would.
When we start changing our responses that are driven by our own knowledge and past experiences to imitating Jesus, we are learning Christ.
Let us learn Christ by living like Him in every area of our lives, set our priorities right, and enjoy the journey.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
