The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

Jesus taught in parables so that non-believers could understand the kingdom of God. Here, He teaches about the grace of God versus the works of man.

The Pharisees did according to the law of Moses. There was nothing wrong in how he lived, for it is Godly. But the problem is that his claim to be a good man stood on what he had achieved.

On the other hand, believers in Christ do not boast in our weaknesses nor our strengths but in Christ and in what He has done for us.

Believers have been presented before the Father as holy and blameless. Therefore, it puts everyone on the same level. That is, everyone is saved only by His grace. It is a gift given to all mankind.

Our fasting, our tithes and offerings, our serving are all an important part of living out the blessed life, but never to put another down or to look at someone as lesser than us.

We as believers lift people up to the place Christ has placed us and encourage everyone to keep growing from glory to glory.

We don't boast in what we are supposed to be, for we have been perfected by Christ. Therefore, we boast only in Christ and His finished work.

The moment we start comparing our spiritual life by bringing somebody down as lesser than us, we have moved away from the truth.

Let us be an encouragement to one another to live in this wonderful grace that Christ bestowed upon us all.
