Matthew 6:19 NKJV
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
Matthew 6:19 NKJV
Jesus said do not lay up treasures on earth where the things, circumstances and situations can steal, wipe out and devalue our treasures, but to lay up treasures that are of heaven.
This means we have the responsibility to gather treasures. This also means that there are treasures God has given us to have, enjoy, and be blessed by.
If we do not gather the treasures that God has given, then we will go on in life without the abundance of God.
It is important to note that when God says lay up treasures in heaven, it means they have been laid for us to take, keep, and enjoy them.
We do not have to pay for it; we do not have to work to get it. We simply receive it, and all are qualified to have it in Christ.
Everything that we have that is perishable is of no true value in the light of eternity, but that which is unperishable has eternal value, and that is the word of God.
What God really wants His children to have is not the miracles, not the breakthroughs but the word of the living God that brings about miracles and breakthroughs in every aspect of our lives.
How much effort do we put into finding earthly treasures, and how much effort do we put into gathering heavenly treasures?
Many complain that they don't have much of God and don't know why things are not happening when they spend time gathering more of the world than of Heaven.
We need to prioritise our values, what is our true treasure and what will take us through eternity.
God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing, and if we don't gather them, we are not going to have them because the enemy is ready to snatch them away from us.
Let us take hold of the treasures of heaven, believe in the word God has given, and practice it to live out these treasures from now onwards.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
