Psalms 19:10 NKJV

More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Psalms 19:10 NKJV

David's revelation that God's perfection is found in God's Word, which reveals God's image and likeness. David says that he desires God and His word far more than pure gold and enjoys it sweeter than honey.

This speaks of how David regarded the word of God. Gold is precious and it speaks of wealth. David regards the knowledge of God in His word as great wealth.

Honey is not just sweet to taste but good for health. David not just read the word of God but also tasted it. David finds that the Word of God is better than honey and brings health to his life.

Even in the old covenant, David had a revelation of the goodness of God and the heart of God towards His children, though the people of God were in the midst of all kinds of judgments that came upon them. Perhaps this is the reason why David is known as a man after God's heart.

This is the posture of David towards God and how he seeks the Lord, his God. The posture is not about doing the right things because David had done some terrible things but it is about bringing himself to the position God has placed him.

All of David's victories took place because David dwelt and trusted in the power of God and not in himself. When David did what he wanted with his own might, he failed.

David's meditation on God's word is reflected in his psalms, his development of love towards God and his desire to live in the presence of God all the days of His life. This produced the greatest king Israel ever had.

Now, as sons and daughters of the Most High God, we have the privilege to live in God Himself and in the power of His Spirit. We have the privilege to walk in His glorious presence all the days of our lives.

But many fail to realise how precious Christ has positioned us in Him to enjoy His goodness, His love and grace.

Why?

Because we have esteemed other things better than God.

We, as a church, have moved far from the position where Christ has placed us. Fear has stopped us from moving in the fullness of God and has made us settle in the outer courtyard of the temple instead of taking our rightful place in the most holy place.

For God has made His dwelling in us but have we turned our faces, our minds and our hearts to remain in His presence?

It is time to get back to living in His precious presence and live in His glorious grace all the days of our lives.

Let God's word be the most precious and the most sweetest above all things.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
