II Peter 2:22 NKJV

But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

II Peter 2:22 NKJV

There are many lessons we can learn from the passages that Peter wrote.

These passages explained that there are many false teachers who teach to follow their sensual desires, leading to complacency and not flowing in the truth of God's word.

They search the scriptures to accommodate their struggles, their pains and their lack instead of rising up in the power of Christ.

Some know that they are free, empowered, redeemed and blessed with every spiritual blessing yet they go backwards to live as if they are not free, not blessed and without power.

This kind of teaching denies the work of Christ and diffuses the power and rights that Christ has bestowed upon us.

The new covenant is about who we have become in Christ. This is not about becoming, it is about living out the new creation lifestyle in Christ.

When we progress in life as followers of Christ through the revelation of God's word, we walk as mature children.

We don't go back and act like we have no knowledge of God.

If we don't live in the position Christ has placed us, we will create a counterfeit to fit our weaknesses, our lack and our unbelief.

When the Israelites refused to go with Moses to meet the Lord on that mountain, they made for themselves a god to worship.

In a way the Israelites were returning back to destruction, back to their struggle and to live under bondage.

Therefore, it is important that we don't live a religious life to keep going in circles but have a relationship with Jesus and walk with Him to the destination He has prepared for us.

Let us put aside all fleshly desires, thoughts and feelings and rise up to maturity in Christ every step of the way.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
