John 14:29 NKJV
“And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.
John 14:29 NKJV
Jesus reminded the disciples about all the things that He had taught and what was going to happen in the future. Now the disciples can look forward to experiencing the truth that is revealed through His death and resurrection.
The key point of Jesus's teaching is that they become doers of the word and not hearers only. Obedience is a result of doing what God has said.
If we meditate on what God has said, it is good but if it remains just that, it becomes unfruitful. When meditation on God's word starts to change our way of life to the life of Christ, then it become fruitful.
Obedience in doing what God has said is fruitfulness because the effects of it are eternal and have no ending.
After knowing the truth, God wants us to believe in it and not go back to our flesh and not start acting like the world. When God speaks, life forms, characters will be built and transformation begins in our lives.
Therefore, we need to constantly stand in the truth and power of Christ.
The disciples did not necessarily understand what Christ said at first because when Jesus died, all of them were scared, but when He appeared and reminded them, they began to build their confidence in the truth.
Jesus was not teaching about observation.
Jesus is teaching us how to walk as a new creation with all of His promises in us.
Just like Jesus Christ reflects the work of the Father, we shall reflect Christ and the Father by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let us be bold to obey Christ and take the step of faith to walk according to His promises.
