Hebrews 4:8 NKJV
For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.
Hebrews 4:8 NKJV
This passage is about the Sabbath rest, how the law of Moses has given the Israelites a day to cease from all their works and rest in God.
The journey of preparation for a permanent rest continues by entering Canaan and then throughout the generation to be finally found in Jesus Christ.
True rest is not about taking a break from our physical work but it is about spiritual rest. It is about being complete in our spiritual identity through Christ.
The rest begins when we come into understanding that in Christ is the fullness of rest. It is about living from a position of completeness, needing nothing else but Christ.
All the rest in the Bible points to Christ, the eternal rest for all mankind. It brings our entire being to acknowledge the work Christ has finished.
There is no more work to be done for us to be partakers of the divine nature. We have it all in Christ.
We are invited to live in this place of rest, to be confident in Him who has established us now till eternity.
Each one needs to develop this understanding and be transformed by the truth Christ has brought to all mankind.
It is important to give our physical body a rest and be revived. But it is of far greater importance to give our entire being the true rest that Jesus has brought to all mankind.
Let us rest in Christ and in all that He has done for us and live knowing all will be well with our lives.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
