James 3:11 NKJV
Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
James 3:11 NKJV
James is bringing understanding with regards to what should be coming out of our lives.
What we should be speaking as a born again, Spirit-filled, blessed and sanctified children of God.
Generally, no spring produces bitter water and fresh water at the same time. It is either contaminated water or good water.
One of the reasons we don't control our tongue is because we don't think about living and speaking according to our new identity in Christ.
If we are not conscious of who we have become and to speak as a new creation, we are going to let our tongue speak whatever we feel.
God has made us so powerful but if we are very loose with our words, speaking things we don't mean and saying things that are contrary to what Christ has made us to be, then we are not going to see much progress moving forward in God.
To grow in maturity as a believer in Christ, we have to be intentional in putting our new nature into practice. We need to nurture our tongue with words that resemble our identity in Christ.
This is so important and James is highlighting to believers to speak what is of God, for God is dwelling in us. What comes out of our mouth will reflect our intentionality in speaking Jesus.
Harnessing our tongue and to be precise with our words will give life to our personality, our reflection as God's children and our character.
It is a powerful tool to bring life, to bring hope, joy and peace. When we speak the things of God, we become what we speak.
Let us speak Jesus, live Jesus and manifest Jesus everyday of our lives.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
