Acts 7:4 NKJV
“Then he came out of the land of the Chaldeans and dwelt in Haran. And from there, when his father was dead, He moved him to this land in which you now dwell.”
Acts 7:4 NKJV
We learn something from Stephen's defence of the gospel of Christ. Here he talked about Abraham moving out by faith, leaving his culture and the god his father worshiped, and trusting in the living God.
It is easy to leave to find a better place to live if nothing is going well at your own place, but Abraham was wealthy, had influence, and had everything he needed.
Yet he would abandon all that to follow God to a place where he had no idea at all.
A heathen was called to be the father of many nations, to be chosen and elected to be part of God’s plans for all mankind.
What was spoken by Stephen here gives hope to every tribe, tongue, and nation.
Everyone of us can be chosen, anointed, and set apart for His kingdom.
The answer is receiving Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.
Don’t let our past, our culture, our environment determine who we are.
We must take on our new identity in Christ as anointed, chosen, and appointed for such a time as this to display His glory and power.
If we ever knew fully the extent of God’s grace that is upon our lives, we would be bold every day.
Just as Abraham left his past and took on this new journey in following God so is our lives, leaving our past and fixing our eyes on Jesus.
Therefore, let us rise up in Christ and live out Jesus every day according to His power and love.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
