II Peter 1:14 NKJV
knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.
II Peter 1:14 NKJV
Peter acknowledged that he is in the temporal world in a temporal body he calls a tent where a person dwells. This statement highlights our true identity.
Peter is teaching us that this body that we have is just a place we take residence to dwell in. That clearly shows us that we are a spirit being who dwells in this tent called the flesh.
Peter knew his time to depart has come near. Therefore, he emphasises the importance of living by our true identity and not according to our tent.
Therefore, it is important where we prioritise our investment, our time, effort and energy according to what matters most. That is on eternal things and not on the temporal things.
This is the reason we are called to worship God in our spirit form and in who we are according to the truth.
Every godliness that we have received from Jesus is of the spirit and lifts us up to live in His power and glory.
When we are sure of who we really are, we will pay more attention to invest in them and to develop them.
The bible teaches us that what profits a man who gains the whole world and loses his soul.
It is a sobering thought to put into perspective the importance of living in our spiritual nature.
Once Peter got a hold of it, he pursued it till the end. This time, he did not deny Jesus but boldly declared it till his last breath.
Let us turn our attention to what matters most daily, give time for spiritual growth, desire to mature in Christ and become the true light that God our Father has made us to be.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
