Hebrews 9:10 NKJV
concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.
Hebrews 9:10 NKJV
Before the new covenant was established, the old covenant was observed to prepare them to receive the new. The old covenant is about performing external rituals that symbolize the internal kingdom, Christ to be established.
Reformation here means to put right or make straight. Christ came to put it right and make it straight for all mankind to enjoy the internal establishment of His kingdom within us.
Anything we do as a symbol falls under the old covenant system, and anything we live out from what Christ has established is the new covenant.
Every time we give time to observe a ritual, we have missed the time to live out the true life of Christ. It will dull us to a form of godliness but has no life and no power.
Here the writer clearly says that those rituals and external ceremonies are preparation for the real, power-filled life, that we flow in the abundance of God.
If we hold our rituals sacred, we have given less attention to our Saviour and Lord who lives within us by His Spirit.
We are all born again to live according to the law of the Spirit and Life in Christ Jesus. As a spirit being, we are to walk in the Spirit so that all the attractions of the flesh have no room to captivate our souls.
We are called in Christ to live out His glory, to shine His power and love. So that we saturate this earth with God's presence and His kingdom.
For this to take place on this earth, we need to live out Christ and not live to observe rituals. This powerful truth will set people free from the trap of observing to the truth of living in God's glory.
The choice is ours to make; Christ has provided the way, provided the truth, and has given life for us to live.
Let us use every time we have to live out Jesus; use every opportunity we get to manifest His glory and bring souls into His kingdom every day.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
