I Timothy 6:7 NKJV

For we brought nothing into this world, and we can certainly carry nothing out.

I Timothy 6:7 NKJV

Paul is teaching his spiritual son Timothy and his listeners about the true facts on accumulating in this world. This world is a gift to mankind to live in and when we finish living here on this earth, we will be translated into God's heavenly kingdom.

Therefore every gift, every wealth, every talent we master is to serve one another, help one another for God's glorious kingdom.

Those who have worked hard, used their talents, and become productive are to be effective ministers for the kingdom of God.

They use their talents, abilities and resources to expand the kingdom of God. Every wealth, every talent and gift is good when it comes from acknowledging God as the source and channelling them to the glory of God.

This scripture does not suggest giving away everything and being left with nothing. God's kingdom is always progressing, therefore, we need to keep producing and be a blessing until we leave this earth.

In the previous verse, Paul says that godliness with contentment is a great gain, and the following verse shows us that we need to live contented lives.

This means we don't fall into becoming a person of greed, pride or self-centredness. Instead, we become a free person who is in control of our own lives in the light of God.

Since we are born of God, we are born again filled with His fullness and don't lack anything. Therefore, we don't work to accumulate to keep but to invest for a bigger cause.

Just like Christ who is a giver, so also we who are His children are givers. Let us shine every day by sharing our gifts and resources for the kingdom of God.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
