Luke 3:22 NKJV

And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

Luke 3:22 NKJV

The beginning of Jesus' ministry started with the baptism of water and the Spirit. It is very important for us to see that Jesus was accepted, pleasing and declared as Son by His Heavenly Father.

At this point, Jesus had not done any miracles and had not started anything with regard to preaching about the kingdom of God.

It is not what Jesus did that made Him accepted, pleasing or become the Son of God. It is because He received the Holy Spirit in His human flesh.

What happened to Christ here was the same picture given in Genesis chapter one, when the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters; it is also the same picture given on the day of Pentecost.

The Holy Spirit was in the beginning, the Holy Spirit was on Christ and the Holy Spirit was on the disciples in the upper room.

Today we who believe in Jesus have been made accepted, pleasing and as children of the most high God.

It is not about our works that justified us and qualify us to acceptance but the gift of God. It is the pure grace of God towards mankind.

The part we play is to receive what Christ has done for us and walk in it every day as one who has overcome the world.

This is a position of power, authority and dominion that is restored which mankind lost in the garden. Now it has been restored through Christ our Lord.

When we believe that we are pleasing, accepted and have become His beloved, we don't need to spend time trying to be accepted, trying to be loved or trying to please God. Instead, it gives us power and assurance to live as God has given us.

When the Holy Spirit came upon us, we too became accepted, pleasing and as God's own children. Therefore, we can live life just as Christ lived, defeating every sin and healing the world.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
