Acts 11:5 NKJV

“I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me.

Acts 11:5 NKJV

Here, we can see that although Peter was with Jesus, lived together, and followed Jesus wherever He went, Peter continues to grow into maturity.

Peter's ways of thinking were challenged, and his perception of things pertaining to God changed as his relationship with Christ grew.

God had to show Peter that things pertaining to God cannot be measured by our carnal senses, it must be spiritually discerned.

It is very easy to slip into tradition even though we believe in Christ. That is why we have to hold on to spiritual things and live out the life of God.

This group of believers that Peter was addressing was upset that the Gentiles were being saved. They held their practices above the love of God and the purposes of God.

The one who experienced grace now wants to shut the doors for the world to come in. Such is the spirit of religion that comes against the ways of God our Father.

Many people get upset today when the truth is preached. This is because of the self-righteousness that still reigns in their lives.

We need to submit to God, not to a religion nor the ways of men.

Therefore, let us be teachable and continue to grow as the Lord reveals His nature to us through His Spirit and through His word.

Always learning and submitting our lives, thoughts, and ways to Christ's finished work.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
