Genesis 22:3 NKJV

So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

Genesis 22:3 NKJV

God gave Abraham a son, the most precious person in his life, whom he had waited for for one hundred years before receiving him.

But when God told Abraham to sacrifice his precious son, Abraham rose EARLY in the morning to obey. He saddled his donkey and took Isaac and two of his young men with him. He split the wood and went to the place that God had told him.

Abraham did not wait, procrastinate, complain, or argue with God. He did none of what many would do today to justify why we can't.

Abraham is called the Father of Faith because he not only obeyed God, but he also put his heart, mind, and soul into doing what God had spoken to him IMMEDIATELY.

He can be named a murderer, a man who has lost his sense and could have been cut off from society yet Abraham obeyed God even though it looked so ridiculous.

Abraham who was without a child understood that when God speaks, it will come to pass. Abraham is assured that if he had killed Isaac and burned him, he would still have his promised son.

Abraham did not just believe it or speak about it, but he obeyed it IMMEDIATELY. Perhaps Abraham realised that any delay in doing what God has said will give his mind and heart a space to talk himself out of it.

Therefore, when God speaks to us, we must not give a chance to linger, or to sit on it for so-called 'waiting for confirmation'.

We follow the moment we hear God and live reflecting Christ every day. Let us be quick to obey God and do what He has spoken.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
