Ezekiel 1:1 NKJV

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.

Ezekiel 1:1 NKJV

The condition surrounding Ezekiel was not a pleasant one. They were forced into manual labour, living among people who were mourning over their captivity.

Ezekiel was a priest transitioning into a prophetic office. His environment was not in a quiet place, with calm music. It was not a happy environment.

Right in the midst of the storm of his life, Ezekiel functioned and was led by God to see the amazing vision that is being fulfilled right now.

The truth is, God is always speaking when direction is needed. But the idea that God speaks only in a quiet, still small voice alone is putting God in a box. God can speak through a fire and through the storms of life because He is God.

The issue is not about God who is always speaking. It is about us who have limited ourselves through our own belief system, the belief system that God only speaks when we go to a quiet place.

Ninety-nine percent of the people I know including myself need to know God's directions while they are in the storm. If we don't train ourselves to hear God like Ezekiel in the storm, we may not be able to hear what God is saying to us now.

Therefore, we need to take the limits off, remove the boxes we put God in, and believe that as God, His voice will be heard in our spirit no matter how loud the sound of our storms may be.

If Ezekiel can hear God and get direction with regards to the future of God's people and God's kingdom, how much more we who have the Spirit of the living God living in us.

As a new creation, we have become the dwelling place of God. Having this understanding helps us to be confident that we will hear God no matter what our surroundings may look like.

Let us be confident in His love and goodness, in the One Who is faithful and true to His word.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
