Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

Peter is speaking to new believers who have come to faith in Christ to start the process of growth to maturity.

It starts by desiring the pure word of God. To learn and understand about their new nature in Christ. To learn what they have become in Christ.

To learn that they are no longer bound by the sinful nature, to learn they are now empowered with the nature of God by His Spirit.

Peter encouraged people to lay aside every pattern of the past and start the new pattern in life through Christ. Changing our words and speaking the right things are part of maturing in the faith.

Many today have acquired a lot of pure milk. They have a knowledge of the word and what it means but have not put it into action.

Many have parked themselves just to drinking milk and are satisfied but others have started moving to maturity by eating solid food.

God's design for all of us is to grow into the fullness of His image and likeness. We are born again not into another human being, we are born again into His Image and His likeness.

Therefore our growth should be resembling more and more of Him in every aspect of our lives. What Christ has established in the inside of us should be manifesting in every area of our lives.

We have to choose to take actions, it's our responsibility to lay things down and it's our responsibility to pick things up. Throw away the old habits and put on the new in Christ.

Let us continue to grow into maturity in Christ for every time we grow in Christ, many more are going to be blessed.
