“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,' says the Lord. ”
Romans 12:19 NKJV
Paul encouraged believers not to take revenge. The damage that causes a person to enter an avenging mode is far greater than the damage done to the one being avenged.
The one who is being avenged may say sorry or move on, but the one who is avenging the person steps away from the blessing that is set for them by God.
They begin to wander away from the character of God and begin to display the character of satan. To accuse, to tarnish somebody's name is not in our identity as believers.
To be in the spirit of avenging means we are no longer operating in the Spirit of God.
God is a just God, not to punish, but to give a chance for them to find a way to be redeemed. Just like how God gave us chances. It is only through the grace of God that we all have been saved.
No matter what people have done to us, we need to keep a clean heart and a right spirit to follow God's way.
Our reward is not about getting even one day. Instead, our reward is in God. That we pass the exam of forgiveness, letting go of the past and embracing our future that is in Christ.
We need to be aware of the trap of the enemy: wanting to get even. None of us can even outdo what we have done before; why demand that from others?
Let us all live in the grace of God, forgiving and embracing God's plans and His purpose all the days of our lives.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
