So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”

The plans and purposes of God may sometimes look like going in the wrong direction, like the enemy is winning, or like the enemy is gaining ground.

Jesus here firmly told Peter to put away his natural weapon and his instinctive impulse to protect Jesus, and to trust the word Jesus had received from His Father.

Jesus shows us the way; the key is to respond according to the word of God, to follow the assignments that God has given to us.

What will bring us to the other side of the storm is not about how we navigate our way through the storm but to trust God. If God has said we will go to the other side, then no matter what, we will be there on the other side.

Even Daniel and the three Hebrew children were not eaten by the lions or burned by the fire because they trusted the living God.

Joseph was sold by his brothers to be a slave, but in reality, Joseph had a free ride to his destiny to be a man second only to Pharaoh.

Joseph kept believing God's promises through every valley and through every dark moment in his life that made him positive in every circumstance.

What is the most important lesson we learn in this passage is to hold the word of God above everything else in life.

Don't let the circumstance alter our confession, alter our imagination, nor shake the foundation Christ has laid for us as His children.

Every test we go through, we need to keep our eyes on what God has said and keep looking at the end result which Christ has given to us.

This is how we walk by faith and not by sight. Therefore, let us anchor our lives in Christ and hold on to His word that will carry us through every storm of life.
