Isaiah 9:4 NKJV

For You have broken the yoke of his burden And the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, As in the day of Midian.

Isaiah 9:4 NKJV

The promise spoken through the prophet Isaiah about what Christ would bring as part of His government here on earth. There are two areas that this verse reveals about Christ's government.

The first one is about the yoke. Not only does it speak about the freedom of the people of Zebulun and Naphtali, but it also reveals the liberty we will experience through Christ Jesus our Lord.

When the Egyptians put a yoke on God's children, the true potential of the Israelites was suppressed, dreams were crushed, and they were molded as people who were born to be slaves.

But God freed them from the yoke of bondage and gave them their own land to become a great nation and develop their lives to their full potential.

The world and its system attempt to yoke the people by imposing submission on every human being. Today in Christ we are freed from the yoke that satan has put on humanity.

We are liberated to live out our God-given identity and to live out our lives according to His glory.

The second is about our freedom from oppression. In the days of the Median, Gideon, who had a small army, defeated a massive, strong army supernaturally as they trusted in their God.

Today in Christ we have already won every battle before it starts because God is on our side.

The confidence Gideon had in God is amazing. He brought a small number of people and walked right in, though he could see the multitudes of his enemies. This is because Gideon believed in the supernatural power of God.

We need to build up our trust in the One who has won the victor's crown. Trust the one who has conquered death and gives life.

This is the government that we are born into as a believer and follower of Christ. When we start to believe in our Lord Jesus, we will start to walk free from the yoke of bondage and free from every oppression the enemy tries to throw at us.

Let us rise up in the divine power of God, keep speaking it, keep believing in it, and keep exercising God's image and His likeness.

Live in the blessings,

Ps Ambrose
