Proverbs 23:7, NKJV

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. 'Eat and drink!' he says to you, But his heart is not with you."

Proverbs 23:7, NKJV

Proverbs teaches us to avoid being double-minded and instead cultivate a single-minded approach to our beliefs and actions. However, our culture often encourages politeness over truthfulness, leading people to say things they don't mean. This can cause us to become double-minded.

The Bible warns us against being double-minded, as it leads to instability in every aspect of our lives (James 1:8). We often wonder why our words lack power and why our circumstances don't change despite our professed beliefs. Usually, it's because we're double-minded.

We may think we fully believe, but we haven't developed the single-mindedness required. People who genuinely care for us will speak the truth, even if it hurts, to save us from destruction.

Training ourselves to speak the truth and cultivating single-mindedness is an excellent exercise to align ourselves with God and His promises. We need to train ourselves to speak the truth and mean it, so our words carry the power to create and bring about the blessings God has promised.

Let's continue to train ourselves daily to have a singleness of heart and mind.

Blessings,

Ps Ambrose
