Colossians 4:12 NKJV
“Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.”
Colossians 4:12 NKJV
Paul sent Epaphras to bring his greeting and his desire to see the Colossians to be mature.
Not only in handling the truth but also guarding it from any contamination.
This is a pastoral heart going after the well-being of the flock of God. One of the true hearts of a shepherd is to see the church grow in maturity in every area as a disciple of Christ.
The main problem that the Colossians church faced was false teachings.
These teachers teach that Jesus is not Lord and He is just a man just like everyone else.
The truth is Jesus is fully God but He came to earth as a full man to take the full punishment that was laid on all mankind.
Jesus is fully God because no human is without sin except Jesus, the Son of God.
Jesus has to be fully God, righteous to be the right sacrifice and have to be fully human to become the sacrifice for the sins of all mankind.
To have one taken out without the other will lead people into error and false doctrine.
Therefore, to guard the truth about our Saviour's finished work, it is very important that we all share this truth with all generations.
Walking in the truth and rightly sharing the word of God will liberate people to walk in God’s power and love.
The labour the apostles have is to keep the truth as it is and not change it to anything.
There are many conflicts in the church today and it is tearing apart the body of Christ.
We all need to let down our own desires, our traditions and our own ideas to take hold of God’s.
We need to be mature to hold on to the truth and not to give in to all kinds of debates that take our attention away from walking in Christ.
Let us take every opportunity to spread the truth about Jesus, rightly sharing the truth so that the liberating power of Jesus can be seen in every person.
Blessings
