“‘You shall not make idols for yourselves; neither a carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves; nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I am the Lord your God.”
Leviticus 26:1 NKJV
God spoke through Moses to forbid any carved images, rocks, or anything that resembles Him that people might bow down to worship.
Because when we put God in an earthly form, our view of God will be distorted, minimised, and end up with a wrong image of God.
In John 4, Jesus reveals how we should worship Him. Jesus said that God is Spirit. Therefore, we MUST worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.
When we worship God as a spirit being, the limitation is taken off our minds; we will be able to see Him as the Almighty God, the source who holds everything together.
When the right image has been set, the right identity can be established in us, and with the right mind we can truly serve the Lord.
Any form of imagery will draw our attention away, causing our natural instinct to kick in, and we begin to do things around that object, rather than focusing on God.
If we worship God in the Spirit, we put our whole undivided attention on Him. Nothing separates God and us; no distance, no specific time, for He lives in us through Christ.
God Almighty wants us to behold Him as He is because He wants us to rise as His own children to live the life He has purposed for us.
We must have the right insight into who God is and what He has accomplished for us.
Let us behold God as He is in the Spirit and live a spirit-filled life every day in Christ our Lord.
Live in the blessings,
Ps Ambrose
