Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

Colossians 3:18 NKJV

Written in times when men had absolute control over their wives, Paul urges wives to submit to their own husbands as it is fitting in the Lord.

This passage is not a stand-alone but a complement to all the passages in the chapter, building on the characteristics of God in a marriage.

Submission is a godly principle. When it is done by faith, it is going to produce something in men that is supernatural. Men begin to change when a wife begins to submit by faith, believing that her husband will be a godly leader.

Wives submitting to their husbands by faith would break the influence of satan, which will change their minds to the plans and purposes of God.

Therefore, submission is a powerful force to change the unchangeable. Christ submitted His life unto death, but it brought life to all humanity and raised Him up to the highest place.

The submission is unto God, His word, and all that God has prepared for every relationship between husband and wife.

When a generation does not know how to submit, we will have a generation that gives up so easily and a generation that does not know the power that God has put in us.

It looks contrary in the natural, foolish to the mind, but it is the power that changes things in a marriage.

Let us honour our marriage in the light of God by wives submitting to their husbands, helping him to display Jesus every day.
